Known to most as Beppi, I am a doctoral student at SLF Davos / EPFL working on numerical and physical modeling of granular flow dynamics, with a focus on snow avalanche impact on narrow structures. My research follows a continuum approach, using a 3D Material Point Method (MPM) together with large-strain elastoplastic constitutive models.

Alongside numerical modeling, I work on physical modeling across scales, from small-scale laboratory setups to full-scale avalanche dynamics at the Vallée de la Sionne test site.

Snow Avalanche Impact Simulation

Simulation of a snow avalanche recorded at the Vallée de la Sionne test site in December 2023. The simulation is based on a 3D Material Point Method (MPM) code incorporating an advanced elasto-plastic constitutive model.
