Regional Approach for biodiversity Visioning and Policy IntEgratioN (RAVEN)

Project duration

The RAVEN project aims at initiating a negotiation process about semi-natural areas among stakeholders in the case study region Lenzburg-Seetal (canton Aargau) that should result in a common vision for the agricultural and natural development of the region. This negotiation process will be conducted in a spatially explicit manner (on maps) and be based on the scientific principles of social learning. This should enable the stakeholders to focus on common interests. A particular interest of the project is also to investigate how the regional process can be supported by elaborating integrative governance arrangements and policy instruments (including jointly designed compensation measures) across the agricultural, the forestry, and the settlement development sectors that can help increasing acceptance. Finally, project will develop a method for biodiversity visioning in the form of a serious game that will be tested in a second case study region in the canton of Lucerne.
