I study how global changes are reshaping mountain ecosystems, with a focus on the alpine treeline ecotone – the transition from subalpine forest to alpine tundra. I use experimental approaches and long-term monitoring to link plant ecophysiology and growth with microclimatic conditions and biogeochemical processes, with a particular interest in impacts of declining snow cover. Through this research, I aim to support policies and management strategies to sustain ecosystem functioning and services in sensitive mountain systems.
