Spatial predictions of species distributions under future climate scenarios are key for tailoring efficient forest management that adapts the forests of today to meet the future demand of the society. A new generation of models bridges this gap by using tree-ring fitness-related and functional traits from common gardens to provide new insights into the sensitivity of populations to climate change across space and time.

COMMON-RING aims to provide spatially explicit predictions of species distributions under forthcoming climate change scenarios by integrating evolutionary responses derived from tree-ring, wood anatomical, and molecular genetic data collected from common gardens across Europe.
