Developing an efficient forest inventory on forest enterprise level

The hitherto existing methods for forest inventories on forest enterprise level as the basis for forestry planning and controlling are time consuming and expensive. With a smart combination of data collected with terrestrial methods (sample plots, stand descriptions) and remote sensing (aerial photos, LIDAR, etc) forest inventories shall become more efficient and practice oriented to serve the needs of a multifunctional forest management. This combination shall be implemented in software tools (prototypes), which shall lead to planning tools for forest managers.
