Extreme flood events on the River Aare (EXAR)
The EXAR project provides a basis for assessing the site-specific flood hazard along the River Aare. The results are intended to enable the risks posed by extreme flood events to be estimated more reliably in the future. As such, they will serve as a basis for safety assessments of buildings, facilities and infrastructures that are of great importance for public safety and for the Swiss economy.
The report was published on 22 February 2021 in German, and a summary is available in English.
The synthesis summarises the most important results and conclusions of the study on 31 pages. Various illustrations visualise the modelled effects of extreme floods on the course of the River Aare and on various infrastructures.
