Protection concept

From 1 September 2020 we have again started to offer guided tours of the institute. The SLF has compiled a detailed concept for COVID-19 protection.

We ask all visitors to take note of the following points and to adhere to them.

Protection concept (in German, PDF)

  • The distance of 1.5 m between the guide and the guests and among the guests cannot be guaranteed at all times.
  • Guests must bring their own hygiene masks.
  • Guests are obliged to wear a mask indoors during the whole tour.
  • Our guides are only obliged to wear a mask if the minimum distance cannot be maintained.
  • Persons who have symptoms of illness or feel unwell are not allowed to attend a guided tour. The usual hygiene measures have to be observed: hand disinfection, coughing/sneezing in the crook of your arm, no shaking hands.
  • People who belong to a risk group decide in their own responsibility whether they wish to join a tour.
  • The SLF keeps a contact list for each guided tour, which will be passed on to the relevant authorities on their request. For closed groups, the contact details of a responsible person are recorded. The person responsible must know the contact details of the group members. The competent authority may order a quarantine if there is a contact a person suffering from COVID-19 during a tour. The SLF may use personal data collected for the registration and administration of the tour for the contact list.
  • Persons who do not adhere to these regulations or the instructions of our guides may be excluded from the tour.

Given that our research work is performed as a public service and that we seek to resolve problems that are relevant to society in general, we are eager to make our knowledge and findings accessible to the public at large.

We have therefore set up an interactive exhibition in our foyer. If you are interested in the work undertaken by the researchers at the SLF, or wish to find out more about snow, natural hazards or mountain ecosystems, you are very welcome to pay us a visit. Six exhibits and various models and computer simulations enable you investigate our subject areas in greater detail and conduct experiments while having fun at the same time.

Please take note that the exhibition is held in German only!
