Organisation

The SLF is part of the WSL, the Swiss Federal Institute for Forest, Snow and Landscape Research.

The SLF is home to five research units. Some of these work exclusively in Davos and thus belong to the SLF, while others are located in WSL facilities in Birmensdorf (main facility), Lausanne and Bellinzona.

Avalanches, debris flows and rockfall research unit (Davos and Birmensdorf)
Mountain hydrology and torrents research unit (Davos and Birmensdorf)
Ecosystem boundaries research unit (Davos, Birmensdorf, Bellinzona and Lausanne)

The WSL research programmes answer questions that are of importance to society in close collaboration with the WSL research units.
