The SLF is offering access to the current snow, wind and temperature data collected by measuring stations on its website free of charge.


Weekly report - Now weekly again

Snowfree Christmas in the valley, wind drifted snow-problem up high. Starting today the weekly report will be published again every Thursday (in German) and every Friday (in French) around 6 p.m.


Course for teachers - Places available

The SLF offers a continuing education course on „Snow and Avalanches“ for grammar school teachers (in German). here are still a few places to sign up for spontaneously.


Avalanche warning - Daily avalanche bulletins

With immediate effect the SLF is once again publishing the avalanche bulletin and interactive danger map twice a day, at 8 am and 5 pm. These products are available both on the SLF website and with the White Risk app.

White Risk web portal - Numerous new features

With immediate effect, the avalanche prevention portal is bristling with exciting new features, including a search function, additional content, free Swisstopo tiles for the app, presentation templates in the Pro section, and an English version of all chapters.


Public lecture - Snow physics and avalanches

Three young SLF snow researchers will explain the secrets of snow physics an the formation of avalanches on 15.12.2014 Montanasaal Davos (in German).


Practice meets Science - Places available

From the 23rd to 27th February 2015 SLF will be holding a first international snow and avalanche course for safety officers, avalanche forecasters and consulting engineers. There are still a few places to sign up for spontaneously.


White Risk App - New: Free access to automatic measurements

The app White Risk now offers free access to data from automatic snow and wind stations operated by the cantons and the SLF (iOS and Android).


New Book - Snow and Glacier Risks

Elsevier recently published the new book "Snow and Ice Related Hazards, Risks and Disasters". The SLF authored the chapters on avalanches and risk management.
